Weekly write 5
What are you grateful for?
List ten things that you're grateful for. In fact, try and do this every day for a week - or even a fortnight. And you're not allowed to repeat yourself, so that's 70 - or 140 - things! Sounds a lot, but be specific. This will force you not only to notice things, but to appreciate what you may have taken for granted. And it should make you feel good too.
Then, for your weekly write, choose one to 'free-write' about for 10 minutes. I hope this takes you to some good places.

Here are 13 things that emerged from an NWP writing group session in April 2017:
- people's smiles
- a mercifully uneventful journey on the X5 bus
- sharing things within the family
- a driver who generously stopped and let me in
- being able to keep a cat as a child substitute
- the blackthorn blossom
- wearing a dress which I had reserved for a special occasion, and then thought, no, life's too short - I'll wear this today
- receiving a phone call from my daughter who told me that she had finally got rid of the mice
- green lights when I was in a hurry
- the pleasure of a cycle ride
- the facility of radio i-player
- my good health
- someone lending me a pencil when I'd forgotten mine
